light cycles? light rc car...

in reality, all very much a work in progress. but: if you wanted to track a radio control car around a room, and explode it remotely when it crossed its own trail, this is just how you might make the car.

dorkbot / simulating

going to dorkbot made me aware that at emf, shipping containers with art in them are a thing.

going to dorkbot gave me enthusiastic friends who prompt idle talk into doing, making.

and so, take-two on some unfinished business. involving radio-control cars, again.

step one: sizes, speeds… simulation. cars have to be able to turn, duels need space to play out, the game has to be fun. it’s not obvious to me it could work in a container. so let’s find out, via simulation. the game running software is going to have to be built anyway, and modelling some top-down car racing physics can’t be that hard, right? suffice to say, i have many outtake videos. they really only make sense in motion, but the above frame from one at least has a certain graphic quality.

these outtake videos, along with the motivating story, provided an elaborate setup to the plea i took to dorkbot to enable step two: does anyone have any near-infra-red cameras to test tracking in… adversarial conditions, aka rave lightshow.
