to come: amazing thunderstorm spectacle over the wide vista leading out from the petrified dune cliffs we’re standing on.

wedding, winter style
another schoolhood friend says ‘i do’. a crisp winter’s day, thousand year old church mixed up with black tie, all quite picturesque. and with babies at the wedding, this is all feeling definite thirties-territory.
pomp and punting
summer and so weddings: to oxford, for the wedding of friends who met while studying there. quite the weekend: trinity college all to ourselves; intimate chapel service, tea and cake on the green, and so on till a spot of punting the next day. beautiful day, touching moments, i wish them the best.
são paulo » hd'copter justification #2
…but all that fades away against the rift of paraisópolis and morumbi. o m g. to see this was why we’d hired the helicopter. just unreal.
urban conditions…? i would just stick this on a cinema screen for an hour and let people deal with thinking it through.
solstice victoriana wonderland
to cap a weekend of code, ikea and whatnot, headed to the free paradise gardens festival for a valedictory beer on the latest sunset of the year. it all turned magical after the last act, as the steam fair was deserted but somehow still lit up, a surreal playground of victoriana beckoning; strings of white bulbs lifting glimpses of a bygone age out of the void of the park. union jacks, steam engines and more pomp, carved wood and gold leaf than you could doff your hat to.
back in london #2
as if to chide us for being inside glued to laptops for the weekend, the quad outside the workshop room is a vision of summer perfection. although cropped like this, london looks like america all of a sudden.
...so that is what a narrow aperture is for
having seemingly spent all my photographic time in low-light, camera stuck to f1.4, i finally remembered there are times you want it elsewhere. hello starburst sun!
mapping'09 » l'écurie
the îlot 13 complex has the écurie bar, and what a perfect place. couldn’t resist this shot, seeing the guy reading the hardback comic they had lying there, roses behind and, well, it goes on. too perfect.
run back for the camera
out from the computer screen and walking to the bakery, the sun comes out and pow! the skies are dark dark grey but everything urban is floodlit white with long shadows. tower block and white crane are stunning. and to cap it all, perfectly framed by the most amazing rainbow.
run back for camera, obviously it has passed. the clouds are racing and changing all the time, see a few more flashes of sun, but nothing like that one. at least a glimmer of rainbow again when finally walking back, loaf in hand.
one for the memory…
